BS EN 50525-3-41
BS EN 50525-3-41 – Electric cables — Low voltage energy cables of rated voltages up to and including 450/750 V (U0/U) Part 3-41: Cables with special fire performance — Single core non-sheathed cables with halogen-free crosslinked insulation, and low emission of smoke partially replaces British Standard BS 7211 for Electric cables. Thermosetting insulated non-armoured cables for voltages up to and including 450/750 V, for electric power, lighting and internal wiring, and having low emission of smoke and corrosive gases when affected by fire.
The Standard BS EN 50525-3-41 covers the following sizes and types of Harmonised cables which were previously included in BS 7211:
- Thermosetting insulated, non-sheathed, single-core cable 450/750V
- In sizes 1.5mm2 to 630mm2(H07Z-U, H07Z-R and H07Z-K)
- Thermosetting insulated, non-sheathed, single-core cable 300/500V
- In sizes 0.5mm2 to 1.0mm2(H05Z-U, H05Z-R and H05Z-K)
The following National Types remain in BS 7211
- Thermosetting insulated, sheathed, single-core cable 450/750V in sizes 1.0mm2 to 35mm2(6181B)
- Thermosetting insulated, twin, 3-core, 4-core and 5-core circular sheathed cable 450/750V in sizes (6182B, 6183B, 6184B and 6185B)
- Thermosetting insulated, single-core, flat twin and flat 3-core sheathed cable with circuit protective conductor 300/500V in sizes 1x1mm2 to 3x16mm2(6241B,6242B and 6243B)
The cables contained in the BS EN 50525-3-41 standard are what are typically known as improved fire performance, Low Smoke, and Zero Halogen versions of the PVC cables contained in BS EN 50525-2-31 (previously BS6004)
