Tratos UK Ltd Achieves Strong EcoVadis Sustainability Rating

Knowsley, UK — August 2025

For Tratos UK Ltd, sustainability is not just a goal but a promise kept. The company, part of the family-owned Tratos Group, has consistently pledged to match its world-class innovation in cable manufacturing with a deep commitment to responsibility.

Tratos UK Ltd, part of the family-owned Tratos Group, has once again demonstrated that true industrial leadership means combining innovation with responsibility. In an era when cables are the hidden arteries of the global economy — carrying power, data, and lifelines of modern society — Tratos has reaffirmed its pledge to lead not only in technology but in sustainability.

That commitment has now been reaffirmed: Tratos UK has been formally assessed by EcoVadis, the world’s most trusted provider of business sustainability ratings. The company achieved an overall score of 59/100, placing it amongst the top-performing companies evaluated worldwide.

The EcoVadis scorecard highlights Tratos’ growing commitment to sustainability across four key areas: Environment, Labour & Human Rights, Ethics, and Sustainable Procurement. Tratos scored particularly strongly in Environmental Management (66/100) and Labour & Human Rights (64/100), underlining its progress in responsible manufacturing, workplace safety, and employee inclusion.

Key strengths noted in the evaluation include:

  • Environmental Management (66/100): backed by ISO 14001 certification, carbon audits, and decisive action to reduce fluorinated greenhouse gases.
  • Labour & Human Rights (64/100): backed by ISO 45001 certification, ensuring safe, inclusive workplaces with policies that protect workers’ rights and prevent discrimination, child labour, or forced labour.
  • Circularity and Waste Management: introducing mapping systems and disposal practices that close the loop between production and reuse.
  • Transparency in Governance: detailed reporting on workplace safety and gender representation, setting standards for accountability in manufacturing.

Unlike many in the sector, Tratos views sustainability as a strategic driver of competitiveness, not a regulatory obligation. The EcoVadis scorecard provides a roadmap for continuous improvement, and Tratos is already acting on it:

  • Expanding its sustainability reporting frameworks to match global best practices.
  • Engaging suppliers more deeply on environmental and social performance.
  • Strengthening governance in ethics, procurement, and accountability.

The assessment also provides a clear roadmap for improvement. Tratos is now focusing on expanding its sustainability reporting frameworks, deepening supplier engagement on environmental and social issues, and strengthening governance on ethics and procurement.

Professor Maurizio Bragagni Esq OBE, CEO of Tratos UK Ltd, said:

“As a family-owned company, Tratos’ strength has always come from its people. This EcoVadis recognition is not only a measure of our systems and policies, but above all of the hard work, passion, and integrity of those who make Tratos what it is. I want to pay tribute to colleagues such as Mr Camaiti and Ms Gravina, whose expertise and commitment were instrumental in this achievement, and to all the Tratos people — from engineers to operators — who every day dedicate themselves to excellence.

Sustainability is not an abstract concept for us. It is lived daily by our teams who are determined to change the world for the better through cables that deliver clean energy, safe transport, and digital connectivity. This recognition belongs to them. Together, we are proving that cables are not only conduits of power and data, but also of responsibility, resilience, and hope for future generations.”

The EcoVadis rating adds to Tratos’ long list of recognitions, including the Queen’s Award for Enterprise (Innovation), the Made in Britain Inspiring Leader Award, and an SSE Sustainability Supplier Award. With over £25 million invested in UK manufacturing and testing facilities, Tratos Group is positioning itself as a strategic partner in the UK’s transition to clean energy, digital infrastructure, and sustainable growth.

For Tratos UK Ltd, the journey continues: transforming cables from industrial products into conduits of innovation and sustainability. As infrastructure demands grow and societies push towards decarbonisation, Tratos is ready to set the pace for the cable industry worldwide, proving that a family-owned company can lead on the world stage with both vision and responsibility.
