CW 1822
SPECIFICATION CW1822 FOR CABLE OPTICAL FIBRE 35 – LFH – INTERNAL – MULTIMODE (50/125μm)
This specification details the requirements for a range of non-metallic, loose
tube construction LFH (Limited Fire Hazard) optical fibre cables containing
12 and 24 multimode (50/125μm) optical fibres for use within buildings.
The transmission application for these cables are for systems operating nominal wavelengths of 850nm and 1300nm.
The specification requires 12 multimode (50/125μm) colour coded fibres within each dry tube. One or two tubes plus dummy fillers where required are assembled helically around around a non-metallic central strength member, the specification requires that the cable is neutrally balanced along its central axis.
The assembly is wrapped in a tape and extruded Halogen free flame retardant thermoplastic material coloured orange. Rrip cords are inserted under the sheath to aid stripping and terminating the cables.
The transmission application for these 50μm core diameter, multimode optical fibres cables are for systems operating with nominal wavelengths of 850nm and 1300nm optimised for operation in the 1300nm wavelength region and provide a specified transmission capability in the 850nm wavelength region. The optical fibres specified must meet the requirements specified in CW 1504.
All of the polymeric materials specified in the construction of these cables meet the requirements of BT Specification CW1500-7
(Note: The construction and performance of this this cable is currently under review by BT.)
