TITLE: Specification CW1588 for Cable Optical Fibre 24 – External
Singlemode – Airspaced

SCOPE: This specification details the requirements for a range of polyethylene sheathed loose tube construction optical fibre cables containing a non-metallic central strength member, 8 to 24 singlemode fibres and 6 insulated copper conductors.

These cables are for use in transmission systems operating in the wavelength range of 1260nm to 1625nm.

These cables will be for installation in underground ducts in the British Telecommunications plc network. The cables will be pressurised after installation.

A prime requirement is that the cable shall be suitable for installation with a stocking type grip applied directly over the cable sheath.
