SPECIFICATION CW 1308 FOR CABLE EQUIPMENT 2000

This Specification details cable with plain copper conductors, PVC insulated to a special colour code, and PVC sheath.

The cables, based upon the following constructional methods, are intended for use as shown.

Layer, for general use, including two cables for installation in customer’s premises where good appearance is required. 

Unit, of 20-pairs. Unit, of 16-pairs, for use with the binary number system. Unit, of 30-pairs, for use with pcm systems. Unit of 25-pairs, for use with LLU equipments.

The cables is available with either 0.40 mm or 0.50 mm plain annealed copper conductors. Standard insulation is PVC Type TI 54. Cores are twisted to form pairs or triples which in turn are stranded in layers, units or sub-units, the final assembly of pairs or triples is wrapped in a polyester tape prior to the application of the sheath. The standard sheath is PVC Type TM 51. Rip cords are included under the sheath to aid and easy stripping and terminating the cable.

Cable constructions covered include the option of a laminated water barrier screen integral with the sheath or an aluminium polyester foil screen.
